Editorial Process & How We Choose Content.

At Scripps News Daily, we want to share clear, accurate, and interesting content that helps our readers learn and stay informed. We cover many topics like business, entertainment, health, science, technology, lifestyle, and current events. This page explains how we handle articles and submissions on our site and what rules we follow to decide what to publish.

What Guides Our Content?

Our goal is to share articles that are helpful, relevant, and interesting to people everywhere. We work with writers, publishing partners, and experts to find stories that show real trends. We give useful information, and spark good conversations.

Whether it is a guest article or one of our regular posts, every piece goes through a careful review before it is published.

Where Our Articles Come From?

At Scripps News Daily, our articles come from different kinds of contributors:

  • Guest writers
  • Industry experts
  • Independent writers
  • Publishing partners

We welcome ideas and full articles from people who know their stuff or have a fresh viewpoint on the topics we cover. Every submission is checked to make sure it fits our topics and meets quality standards before editing.

How We Review Articles?

Every article goes through four main steps before it appears on our site.

  1. Submission Review

When we get a new article, we first check if it follows basic rules, like length, structure, and easy-to-read style. We also make sure the topic matches what our readers want.

We don’t accept articles that promote hate, discrimination, violence, adult content, or unproven medical claims. This applies to all topics.

If something is missing or needs fixing, we work with the writer to improve it before moving on.

  1. Editorial Check

Our editors look at every article to make sure:

  • The topic is useful, timely, and interesting to our readers.
  • The content is honest, original, and doesn’t spread false info, scams, or harmful advice.

This helps us keep the information trustworthy and reliable.

  1. Approval for Editing

If your article passes the first two checks, it moves to the editing stage. Here, we might ask you to make changes to improve clarity, structure, tone, or fix small mistakes.

We like writing that is clear and easy to read. Articles that are well-written and informative usually get published faster.

  1. Final Approval & Publishing

After editing, the article goes to the final approval stage. Some articles get published within a week, while others might be scheduled for later depending on timing, season, or site plans.

Our editors make the final call on publishing and may make small changes to improve clarity, accuracy, or formatting.

How to Send Us a Pitch or Article?

We are always happy to hear from new writers. If you have a story idea or a complete article, please email it to us.

Please include:

  • A short bio about yourself
  • A working title and a brief summary of your article
  • The article itself in a Word or Google Doc file
  • Any links or references if needed

We try to reply within 10–14 business days. While we can’t publish everything, we carefully review every submission.

Keeping Our Standards Up to Date

The online world keeps changing. So, we update our editorial guidelines now and then to stay current with new trends, concerns, and what our readers need. We aim to be fair and clear about how we work, and we regularly check older articles to make sure they still meet our standards.

If you find an article that seems old or has problems, please reach out to us. We are happy to review it and make improvements.

The team behind Scripps News Daily works hard to keep the site balanced, reliable, and worth reading. We aim to build a space where ideas can be shared responsibly by sticking to a clear process and working closely with contributors.
